When the world stops,
How do we go on?
When everything changes,
What remains?
In the stillness of a halted city,
Amid the bombardment of the news,
Adrift in enforced solitude,
What do we have?
Cotton clouds and blue skies.
Spring rustling through awakening trees.
The chatter of returning birds.
The smile of a loved one.
The laughter of a child.
Music to keep us company as we stare out the window at an empty street.
We have what we've always had,
Each other.
I like Dippin'Dots and Netflix, Star Trek and James Bond, and all things Vampire :)
I write M/M romance and blog about whatever pops into my head.

Is this your poem? If so, you should share it widely. So powerful!!
Ahhhhhh. AIMER! I love this! So very beautiful and so very true! Sending huge hugs to You and Yours! Appropriately distant, of course! π Stay safe and Thank You! π€β€οΈπ

I agree with Donna. It tells us that everything we had is still there, despite what is happening.

Thanks, Hugh. Glad you liked it, and thanks for the retweet. You reach a lot more people than I do. I appreciate the boost π

Who would ever have predicted seeing empty streets, not just here but all over the world?
